System Load Import

SmartMAP Engineering Analysis stands out from other packages in its ability to synchronize with GIS & integrate with metering data.


GIS Syncronization addresses the often painful process of creating an accurate model of the distribution system before analysis can begin.


Meter data integration addresses the tedious process of finding and importing loading for each scenario which is to be modeled.


To import System Loads in SmartMAP:


1. Select the Analysis-->Loads-->Import System Loads option in the desktop application after opening the model you wish to work with.


2. Select the date and time you wish to import loads for


3.  Choose your load handling.  

  • Usually the default of 'Delete all loads in system' is what is needed.  It will remove any previously imported loads and replace them with the loads for the date & time selected in Step 2.
  • The 'Delete existing loads...' option is useful when you are importing loads from a time far in the past.  If there are many new meters in the system which did not exist 2yrs ago, importing loads from 2yrs ago would leave gaps in the loading.  In a case like this, you can first import recent loads which you want used to fill gaps, then import loads for the historical date, and overwrite the loads where loads exist, leaving the previously imported loads (instead of no load) for newer meter points.
  • 'Keep all existing....' is used in some load forecasting studies
  • 'Remove unmetered loads' is rarely used.  Since unmetered loads do not come along with the metering data, they would not be replaced.  when the default 'Delete all...' option is used.  This is used for specific scenarios only.


A load import message will then be displayed.  Usually you can safely select 'No' to this option.


This is a notification of the number of loads imported, and the number of transformers which did not receive load data.  When importing older data, the number of potential errors (TX without data) would be higher, and even with recent data, there are some which are usually related to transformers feeding unmetered loads.  If you notice that the number of potential errors is much higher than normal, then it should be investigated.  helpdesk@utilismartcorp.com is always happy to help when something unexpected shows up.
